ob Description: Job Name: SAP Basis Consultant
In this role, you will:
Be part of a high performing team of SAP Basis Netweaver specialists to design, install, configure, monitor and maintain the SAP system landscape, whilst ensuring high availability, optimal performance and overall data security and integrity. Will work closely with the business and the customer Cloud & Infrastructure team, to ensure an ‘always on’ experience for their internal customers, and a high satisfaction rate for customer service across our business.
SAP Operational Support:
o Monitor, update and maintain the SAP Application, database, environments and interfaces, ensuring they are simple, cost effective and operationally efficient, whilst supporting our business’ needs.
o Ensure environments are kept in synch and documented with changes across Operational Support and Change Delivery.
o Manage incidents to conclusion, working with teams across customer to identify and resolve issues across the platform efficiently.
o Provide 24x7 operational support, with increased focus during month end procedures.
System Administration:
o Conduct regular housekeeping and system administration tasks, for optimal system performance and availability, including Backups, monitoring and predictive alerts, database maintenance (HANA), System exports, copies and restores, data archival tasks, batch job scheduling and maintenance, and component specific maintenance.
o Plan, review and implement SAP Patches, support packages and notes. Work with SAP to resolve bugs in the platform.
o Ensure good quality user roles and authorisation setup and maintenance, as per agreed SLA.
o Conduct transports according to relevant protocols, with appropriate documentation.
DR, Security & Compliance:
o Conduct regular Disaster Recovery tests, as per the defined system criticality rating. Work with the business to review and optimise this process.
o Provide auditing and security reports to maintain adherence to ITCG, SOX and SAO compliance.
o Ensure platforms are resilient and compliant with all Cyber security policies and standards.
o Provide appropriate on call support (currently 1 week in 3) for the business, especially during month end processes.
o Ensure the current SAP Platform is documented and updated for each change.
Future thinking:
o Explore opportunities to improve the platform and/or methodologies to support it.
Must have:
Deep technical knowledge and experience of SAP ECC, SAP PO, SAP VIM, SAP JAVA, SAP SLD, SAP Business Objects, SAP Solution manager, SAP Web dispatcher, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), OpenText Business Capture Centre (BCC), OpenText Archive Centre (AC).
Experience of supporting applications on Windows 2019 and Linux RHEL.
10+ years’ experience as an SAP Basis expert in an application lifecycle development project, or operational support. Ideally with more than two SAP end to end implementation projects.
A broad understanding and experience of SAP Basis, having worked ideally in a small team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Interested in current and future technology opportunities to improve our operational efficiency.
