The Senior Cloud Architect is responsible for defining, designing, and governing enterprise-scale cloud solutions across IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and container platforms. This role leads cloud strategy, architecture patterns, security-by-design, and modernization initiatives (data, apps, identity), ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, resilient, and cost-optimized. The architect partners with product, security, and DevOps teams to deliver business outcomes with measurable value
Responsibilities
1) Cloud Strategy & Architecture
Own the cloud reference architecture, standards, and technology roadmap for Azure/AWS/GCP.
Define landing zones, network topology, and guardrails (policies, tagging, RBAC).
Establish multi-tenancy patterns, hybrid connectivity, and zero-trust principles.
2) Solution Design & Delivery
Design high-availability, DR-ready, and cost-efficient architectures (active-active/passive, RPO/RTO).
Architect microservices, event-driven, and serverless solutions (AKS/EKS/GKE, Functions/Lambda).
Govern API strategy (versioning, throttling, security), and integration patterns (OIDC/SAML/JWT).
3) Identity, Security & Compliance
Lead IAM/CIAM/WIAM architectures (Entra ID, OAuth2/OIDC, Conditional Access, B2C, Privileged Access).
Define security controls (CIS Benchmarks, workload identity, managed identities, KMS/Key Vault).
Implement DevSecOps practices, secure SDLC, vulnerability management, and compliance (ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR).
4) Platform Engineering & DevOps
Drive Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep/CloudFormation), GitOps (ArgoCD/Flux), and pipelines (Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions).
Define observability standards (logging, metrics, traces), SLOs/SLIs, and performance baselines.
Guide cost management (FinOps), rightsizing, reserved instances, and savings plans.
5) Data & Integration
Architect data platforms (Databricks/EMR/Spark, Synapse/BigQuery/Redshift) and ETL/ELT pipelines.
Design event streaming (Kafka/Event Hubs/Pub/Sub) and data security (PII masking, encryption).
6) Governance & Stakeholder Leadership
Chair Architecture Review Board (ARB) and approve solution designs.
Mentor engineers, coach squads, and enable Cloud CoE best practices.
Translate business goals into architectural blueprints and execution plans.
